Florida Legislature
House Bill 713
- Increasing the continuing education requirements for engineers from 8-hours to 18-hours for license renewal
- Changing the method of appointing engineering Board members
- Adding "ethics" training to continuing education requirements
- Increasing the CE credits for serving as an officer in an Engineering Society
The Florida Legislature has passed House Bill 713 and Governor signed it on Friday, June 13, 2014 11:35 AM. The biggest effect on engineers will be the increase in CE requirements to 18-hours per biennium. This is a 125% increase over the current requirement but still less than the 30-hours suggested by the the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and required by most states.
