40 Minutes - The Test
Those who take this course will learn about the basic design of canoe
and kayak launches. They will learn about the pre-design
considerations, parking issues, different types of launches, support
facilities, ADA accessibility, and look at some examples of bad
designs. They will learn how to incorporate all of these
considerations into a functional cost-efficient design required for a
successful NMB launch project.
Interesting topic is well organized with pictures and reasonably clear descriptions. I think the material for question 23 could have been described more clearly. You are dealing with different types of structures. Identify them more specifically. I appreciated the attention to ADA issues.
Was really surprised by how much I did not know. Started canoeing with my family when I was a teenager, mostly fishing on the Allegheny River.
Also refurbished a Public (motor) boat site as a Civil Engineer, replacing failing bulkhead.
So although I thought I had a pretty good background, learned one heck of a lot regarding NMB launching sites!
Good indepth material especially for design engineers. (And oh yeah have I ever seen a lot of BAD designs over the years. Loved your suggestion that bad designs should include the Designers name! Laughed out loud at that suggestion!!)
