Mr. Dunn has been engaged in civil engineering design as a highway designer, utility engineer, land developer and consulting engineer. He has been a pioneer in the development of spreadsheet based engineering tools for hydraulics, electricity, high-speed rail, and airport design including the 1990 publication of a book of computer generated reverse curve tables for high-speed trains.
